Start Simple. Find Your Direction.

Beginner Guide

Start Simple. Find Your Direction.
From your first day in the water to finding the right first board.

You do not need to understand every surfboard shape and specification when you first start surfing. Begin by considering how often you plan to surf, your current ability, and the style of surfing you want to explore.

If you only surf a few times a year, renting a board or riding a bodyboard may be all you need. If you expect to surf around 20 times or more each year and want to keep progressing, owning a board can offer greater convenience and help you build consistency.

Surfers who are still developing paddling, take-off, balance, and basic board control will usually benefit from a stable and forgiving soft top. Those who can independently catch unbroken waves and control their direction may be ready to consider a first hard board.

From there, explore longboards, mid-lengths, and shortboards based on the way you want to surf. Your first board does not need to be the most advanced one. It should help you catch waves, build confidence, and enjoy spending more time in the water.
